2026 is around the corner, and the chatter has already begun; I’m going to lose weight, I’m going to the gym, I’m going to eat better, I’m going to save money, I’m going to get organized, etc.

Does this sound like you or a loved one? Often, we make loose goals with the intent on actually making a change, but somehow, we fall short each year. Why is that?

Well friends, I am h

ere to help you set a realistic and obtainable goal for next year so you can see REAL results and feel accomplished!

If you’ve been in the workplace long enough, I am sure you have heard of SMART goals. We set goals at work for our bosses and corporations, but we fail to set these goals for our own personal life. It really is simple, and when you have a clear goal and a precise outline on how you will reach it, you are already one step ahead of yourself from years in the past.

Let’s break it down:

S - Specific

M- Manageable

A - attainable

R - Realistic

T- Timely

Let’s start with a goal I hear year-after-year; “This year, I want to workout and get healthy.” Well friends, that is an excellent IDEA, but let’s turn it into a goal. Wanting to workout and get healthy is too loose of an idea, there is no way to measure your success or specifications on what health looks like. To turn this isn’t a SMART goal, instead try this:

S - I will go on a 20 minute walk, 3 times a week for the month of January.

Having the time listed and the type of workout is specific and the key to feeling successful!

M- I can dedicate 20 minutes to a walk, 3 times a day.

This is manageable because you are saying you have 20 minutes in your day you can dedicate solely for a walk. Not listing the specific days in this case is beneficial, because you can plan your walks according the your schedule and needs on the week.

A- 20 minutes, 3 days a week is a goal that is at reach!

You may even increase your 20 minutes to 30 minutes as the year goes on. Be reasonable and realistic with these goals! Which brings us to…

R- Realistically, you may have an extra 20 minutes to spare

Be it in the evenings instead of doom scrolling, 20 minutes during a lunch break, or 20 minutes after dinner to take a walk. YOU DO HAVE 20 MINUTES TO SPARE FOR YOUR HEALTH, TRUST ME!

T- By dedicating the first month of the year to this goal, you may find it easier than you thought to achieve!

When you make your next SMART goal, you may dedicate 60 days or 3 months to your health and wellness journey.

What goals were you considering for 2026? How can you make those SMART goals so you CAN achieve them?

We can do better, we can better, and we WILL accomplish our goals this year and many more to come! Wishing you all love and blessings for 2026!
